IMPORT OF AUTOMOBILES DECREASES BY 30.1 PERCENT

The import of automobiles decreased by 30.1 percent in the first five months of 2020, reports in the statistics of the Customs General Administration of Mongolia.

Moreover, truck import decreased by 26 percent during the reference period. The shrinking purchase of customers during the COVID-19 pandemic negatively affects the sales, stressed car distributors.

Consumers' current purchasing trend shows that people are less likely to buy a car for personal use, but the corporate procurement is normal, reports MSM Group. In particular, sales of luxury SUVs are good.

In May, distributor companies sold a total of 206 new automobiles, which indicates a 24.8 percent increase against the previous month. But as compared to the previous year, the monthly sales dropped by 26.4 percent.
