MONGOLIA APPROVES USD 284 MILLION FOR COVID-19 RELIEF PACKAGES

Earlier today (6 May), the Mongolian Cabinet approved MNT 793 billion (USD 284 million) Covid-19 relief packages for supporting target groups such as children and elderly. The government also decided to raise monthly allowances for children to MNT 100 thousand and pensions by MNT 100,000; in addition, the money for monthly food coupons will be doubled. Furthermore, the country will distribute MNT 20.000 per kg of cashmere to herders.

The financial aid packages will last for five months until 1 October.

Previously, the government decided to exempt employees of all private enterprises from Social Insurance Tax for six months from 1 April.
