The regulation stipulates that employees of companies that are facing difficulties due to COVID-19 pandemic will be paid MNT 200,000 per month for three months. However, it will not be provided to the self-employed as they do not pay unemployment insurance.” “The government has also decided to raise the monthly ‘Child Money’ allowance by MNT 10,000 to reach MNT 30,000 over a three-month period. The decision will take effect starting from this month and there is no need to issue a regulation regarding this decision” he added. In the first three months of this year, 5,200 people have received unemployment benefits which increased by 200 compared with the same period of previous year. In 2019, MNT 9 billion was disbursed in unemployment benefits and it has raisen to MNT 12 billion this year. This is mainly due to the increase of the minimum wage from MNT 320,000 to MNT 420,000.
