Home News LIVESTOCK LOSS INCREASED IN FEBRUARY LIVESTOCK LOSS INCREASED IN FEBRUARY In Mongolia, the number of natural losses of adult livestock reached 174.0 thousand heads in the first two months of 2020, increased by 8.1 (4.9%) thousand heads compared with the same period of the previous year. In February 2020, the number of natural losses of livestock amounted to 125.3 thousand heads that made up 72.0 percent of total natural losses of livestock as of the first two months. An analysis of losses of adult animals by livestock type reveals that there were losses of 80.1 thousand head of sheep, 71.1 thousand head of goats, 13.9 thousand head of cattle, 8.8 thousand head of horses, and 81 head of camels. Of the total losses of adult livestock, 40.9 % were goat, and 46.0 % were sheep. By aimags, there were losses of 78.3 thousand head of livestock (45.0 percent) in Khuvsgul, 38.3 thousand head of livestock (22.0 percent) in Arkhangai, and 18.4 thousand head of livestock (10.6 percent) in Zavkhan aimag in the first two months. The losses of the three aimags made up 77.6 percent of the total natural losses of the livestock of the country.
