Home News EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY RECEIVES MNT 227 MILLION IN DONATIONS FOR CORONAVIRUS PREVENTION EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY RECEIVES MNT 227 MILLION IN DONATIONS FOR CORONAVIRUS PREVENTION As Mongolia has stepped up its nationwide efforts to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus outbreak, a number of celebrities, business entities, ordinary citizens have been making voluntary donations of cash money and essential supplies to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). The donations and support provided in recent days include MNT 3 million donation of famous rock band ‘Khurd’. The band will also be performing an online concert on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, one of the most popular public holidays in Mongolia. Despite the fact that all public holiday celebrations in March were canceled this year due to coronavirus outbreak concerns, the band’s concert will be live-streamed on Mongol TV and on social media. Also, some companies in Mongolia have donated to the NEMA, such as Achit Ikht – MNT 100 million, Bogd Bank – MNT 20 million and PetroChina Daqing Tamsag – MNT 5.8 million. Moreover, members of a parliamentary group of the Mongolian People's Party have given their two-day pay and employees of the Millennium Challenge Account Mongolia have also donated their one-day salary to the NEMA. The long list of donations to the NEMA continues with 30 hospital beds worth MNT 60 million by citizens L.Odbayar and E.Tamir, 200 packages of sea buckthorn seed oil by the Enica Organic Impex, personal protective equipment by Hero Entertainment studio and 200 sheep by Avarga University of Physical Culture. The NEMA has released a report of donations they have received to date since February 27 when the donation bank account was opened. A total of 116 entities and individuals have made their money donations during this period, amounting to MNT 227 million, excluding the donations of products and materials.
