NEW UB FLYOVER RE-NAMED ‘OLYMPIC BRIDGE’

It has been decided to name the new flyover in Ulaanbaatar, located next to the Transport Police Department as ‘Olympic Bridge’. The largest flyover in the Mongolian capital officially opened on 16 September 2019. Unofficially named as the ‘Transport Police Bridge’, due to the close proximity of that Ulaanbaatar landmark, the flyover is expected to decrease the burden on the ageing Peace Bridge by 40-50 percent and nearby intersections by 30 percent.

The 477 meter four-lane flyover was constructed with a soft loan from the People’s Republic of China. The flyover span has a load capacity to bear the weight of trucks carrying 100 tonnes. The construction of the flyover started two years ago.
