Z.ENKHBOLD MEETS WITH HOUSE OF COUNCILLORS PRESIDENT

Paying a working visit to Japan, the Speaker of Mongolian parliament Z.Enkhbold held Thursday a meeting with Masaaki Yamazaki, the President of the House of Councillors, in Tokyo.

Saying that legislative organs of countries have broadened a room for their cooperation as the number of inter-parliamentary meetings and events has augmented, Yamazaki noted that he believes that the Mongolian Speaker’s visit to Japan will expand the parliamentary ties between the counties.

He said Japan is happy to become the first country to establish with Mongolia an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) which will come into force from June 7, 2016. “I am convinced that the EPA will widen our economic cooperation and stimulate the bilateral strategic partnership relations,” emphasized Yamazaki.

In turn, Speaker Z.Enkhbold expressed his satisfaction with meeting the President of the House of Councillors. He noted that the ASEP9 was the first series of meetings within the forthcoming 11th ASEM Summit in Ulaanbaatar, and emphasized the House of House of Councillors at the Japanese parliament, and its members have significantly contributed to the bilateral relations.

“I am pleased that the mutual trust, bilateral relations and cooperation have been consolidating thanks to joint endeavors. Mongolia aspires to foster the bilateral ties in politics, economy, trade and investment in accordance with principles of the strategic partnership,” Z.Enkhbold said.

The Speaker pointed out that Mongolia intends to organize a visit by its new Prime Minister to be appointed following the parliamentary elections in June and to shape the next stage of the middle-term program of the strategic partnership. The Mongolian side wants, thereby, to reflect in this program issues of co-implementing mega-projects on railways, coal-chemical industry and establishing an industrial cluster.

The sides also exchanged views on the political and economic cooperation at the international arena.
