Home News MONGOLIA, RUSSIA AND CHINA TO SIGN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT ON THE ASIAN HIGHWAY NETWORK MONGOLIA, RUSSIA AND CHINA TO SIGN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT ON THE ASIAN HIGHWAY NETWORK On the sidelines of the 3rd session of ESCAP’s Ministerial Conference on Transport convened from 5 to 9 December in Moscow, an intergovernmental agreement was signed on the Asian highway network between Mongolia, Russia and China. The document was inked by D.Ganbat, the Minister of Road and Transportation of Mongolia, Nikolay Asaul, the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation; and Liu Xiaomin, the Deputy Minister of Transport of China. In his speech, Mr. Ganbat noted that the transit transportation agreement concluded between Governments of Mongolia, Russia and China will contribute to increasing a volume of trade turnover at the regional level. Then he thanked Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Nikolay Asaul for organizing the ESCAP’s Ministerial Conference on Transport successfully and stressed that the signing of the Intergovernmental agreement on the Asian highway network between three countries is a significant event for Mongolia. “This is one of the first agreements to be signed in the framework of a tri-partite program on creation of the economic corridor linking Mongolia, Russia and China”, he went on. In turn, Mr. Asaul said that the routes connecting Russia, China and Mongolia will become an important transport artery for the road freight transportation, and the three parties become partners in one more large sphere of trade. “The signing of the Agreement will have a positive impact on the development of economic potentials of the territories, and on improvement of the welbeing of the nations. Development of transport corridors is a part of the national strategies of Russia, China and Mongolia. The agreement will open new opportunities for national carriers, will contribute to the construction of large logistics centers, thus providing a direct delivery of various goods of foreign trade” he added. In conclusion, he noted that the new Agreement will bring relations in the transport sphere between Russia, China and Mongolia to higher level of quality and will create favorable conditions for the implementation of international road transport by carriers of the three countries.
