The first meeting of the working group in charge of continuation of negotiations on forwarding Tavantolgoi project took place on December 9. The working groups is led by Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry Ts.Dashdorj, and has 19 members, including Minister of Environment and Tourism D.Oyunkhorol and Minister of Road and Transport Development D.Ganbat, as vice chairmen.

The cabinet has backed the guidelines of working group’s stance during the negotiations with the TT project stakeholders.

In accordance with the guidelines, the working group held a meeting today with one of the stakeholders of the project – Shenhua Group of China.

The Mining Minister shared his intention to continue the negotiations with comprehensive content, considering the operations at the Tavantolgoi mine, commercialization of coal, railroad development, as well as the new constructions in Umnugovi (South Gobi) province.

Shenhua Group’s Director Lu Bing and General Manager Liu Xiang noted the group has won the Tavantolgoi project bid twice. “We are grateful for the new government’s will to resume the negotiations”, the said and expressed their willingness to continue the negotiations with the government working group.

The working group is receiving today the representatives of more than ten national mining companies, who have expressed interest and potential to work on TT project.
