MONGOLIA BUYS AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY FROM CHINA

Mongolia received agricultural machinery from China on Thursday. This is being covered by a soft loan from the Chinese government.

Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Xing Haiming said that the machinery, provided within the framework of a project on promoting agricultural production Mongolia and funded with a soft loan from China, will contribute greatly to the development of the agricultural sector and the further development of bilateral agricultural cooperation.

Ch.Ulaan, Mongolian minister of food, agriculture and light industry, said that the much-needed agriculture equipment will help Mongolian agricultural entities to upgrade their older equipment and accelerate the development of the sector.

Mongolia started spring cultivation from 8 May. As of 21 May, cultivation has taken place over a total of 182.9 thousand hectares, of which cereals account for 156.6 thousand hectares (wheat in 149.4 thousand hectares), potatoes for 6.4 thousand hectares, vegetables for 1.4 thousand hectares, fodder plants for 3.3 thousand hectares and oil plants for 15.1 thousand hectares.
