January Coal Exports Reach 2 Million Tons

Ulaanbaatar, February 2, 2026 /MONTSAME/.  Monthly coal exports of the “Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi” JSC, sold on a delivered-to-border basis, have exceeded 2 million tons, the company reported.

Following a government decision, coal has been sold through the exchange on a delivered-to-neighboring-country ports basis since February 2023. As a result, exports in January 2026 reached USD 137.8 million, or 2.04 million tonnes, surpassing the previous record by 58,760 tons, according to the company.

This marks the first time that “Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi”’s monthly coal exports delivered to neighboring border ports have exceeded volumes sold under long-term contracts.
