Number of Passengers Traveling by Air Rises 15.3 Percent

Ulaanbaatar, March 25, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The latest statistical report on passenger and freight transport for March 2025, was released. 

As of March 23, 2025, a total of 33.7 million passengers have been transported, marking a 7.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Of this, 32.9 million passengers traveled by road transport since the beginning of the year, a 7.8 percent rise from the previous year. In Ulaanbaatar City, 32.5 million passengers used public transport. Meanwhile, rail transport carried 339,600 passengers, showing a 13.6 percent decline from last year. However, air transport saw a significant rise, with 437,200 passengers, representing a 15.3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

In contrast, the freight transport sector saw a total cargo volume of 25.0 million tons, a 3.9 percent decrease from last year. Of this, 16.0 million tons were transported by road, while rail transport accounted for 9.0 million tons, reflecting a 0.1 percent to 9.9 percent decline from last year. Additionally, air freight recorded 1,800 tons, an 8.5 percent drop compared to the same period in 2024.
