Revenue from Natural Resource Utilization Fees Increased

Ulaanbaatar, March 6, 2025 /MONTSAME/. In the 2024 fiscal year, revenue from natural resource utilization fees increased by MNT 30.6 billion from 2023, reaching a total of MNT 283.9 billion.

According to the law, revenues from fees for forest, wildlife, plants, and land use by individuals, businesses, and organizations are allocated to the local budget. These funds are legally mandated to be used for environmental protection and restoration measures.

Under the Resolutions passed by the Governor's Offices and the Citizens' Representative Khurals of the Capital City, aimags, soums, and districts in 2024, MNT 72.5 billion was allocated for environmental protection and natural resource restoration measures as stipulated by the Natural Resource Utilization Fee Law. However, according to the year-end financial report for 2024, MNT 47.3 billion, or 64.3 percent, was utilized.

According to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia, the total revenue from natural resource utilization fees consists of:

Land use fees: MNT 162.2 billion

Water resource fees: MNT 86.9 billion

Forest resource fees: MNT 20.04 billion

Wildlife resource fees: MNT 14.3 billion

Plant resource fees: MNT 363.7 billion
