Mongolia to Maintain the Position to Increase Benefits for Mongolia from Oyu Tolgoi Deposit

Ulaanbaatar, October 4, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Mongolia and Head of the Cabinet Secretariat Uchral Nyam-Osor received Chief Executive Officer of Oyu Tolgoi LLC Deirdré Lingenfelder on October 3, 2024.

The parties exchanged views on the present state of the project, pressing issues, and developing mutually beneficial cooperation.

Minister Uchral emphasized that as the Head of the working group in charge of improving the Oyu Tolgoi agreement and increasing benefits for Mongolia from the Oyu Tolgoi deposit, he would pay attention to making the cooperation, which is based on the strategically important deposit, mutually beneficial and growing its benefits to Mongolians, maintaining the position of the previous Government.

Ms. Deirdre Lingenfelder noted that the renewed strategy of Oyu Tolgoi LLC is coordinated with the “Vision 2050” long-term development policy of Mongolia and expressed the readiness to cooperate transparently and openly, giving attention to the efficiency of further cooperation.
