RESTORING CULTURAL HERITAGE SITES IN ULAANBAATAR DISCUSSED

Governor of the capital city S.Amarsaikhan yesterday met with ADB Senior Urban Development Specialist Arnaud Heckmann, exchanging views on collaborating in rehabilitating cultural heritage of Ulaanbaatar city, boosting tourism as well as establishing satellite towns.

The sides discussed possibilities of restoring religious cultural heritage sites that locate in ger districts of Ulaanbaatar city, including areas from Gandantegchenlin Monastery, Geser Temple, Botanic Garden, Dambadarjaalin Monastery, Khambyn ovoo, Gunj Lake to Monastery in Bayankhoshuu, making and developing them as tourism sites, re-planning the surrounding ger district areas and providing the citizens with affordable apartments. 

Within the above-mentioned issues, the sides agreed to set up a joint working group of the Governor’s Office of the Capital City and the Asian Development Bank and to pay attention on intensifying works such as conducting necessary studies and developing proposals.
