Results of the 2024 Regular Election of the State Great Khural to be Announced Within Legitimate Time Period

Ulaanbaatar, June 29, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Chairman of the General Election Commission of Mongolia P. Delgernaran presented the results of the 2024 regular election of the State Great Khural of Mongolia on June 29, 2024.

According to the amendments to the Constitution of Mongolia, it is the first time that the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia was elected with 126 members, 48 of which by proportional representation, and 78 by majority representation. A total of 1341 candidates from 19 politcal parties, 2 coalitions, and 40 independent candidates ran for the election. 

In this Parliament election, a total of 1 million 450 thousand voters cast their votes. Preliminary estimate shows 69.4 percent voter turnout, 70 percent in Ulaanbaatar and 60 percent in the rural constituencies. 

The votes gained by political parties and coalitions as follows:

• Mongolian People’s Party 35 pecent

• Democratic Party 30.1 percent

• HUN (National Labor) Party 10.4 percent

• National Coalition 5.2 percent

• Civil Will-Green Party 5 percent

Results of the 2024 regular election of the State Great Khural of Mongolia will be officially presented within 14 days as stated in relevant laws and regulations. The General Election Commission of Mongolia will convene tomorrow to announce the candidates who got the highest votes and make decisions to consider them elected as Members of the State Great Khural.
