Thermal Power Plant Commissioned in Berkh Village, Khentii Aimag

Ulaanbaatar, June 25, 2024 /MONTSAME/.  A 21-megawatt thermal power plant was commissioned in Berkh village, Khentii aimag on June 24, 2024.

As part of the project, the heating infrastructure was comprehensively updated, including the installation of four kilometers of heating pipelines and the construction of two heat distribution substations. As the construction and assembly work was completed the thermal power plant now operates at full capacity. Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai attended the opening ceremony of the plant.

With the new thermal power plant in operation:

- Approximately 448 households, businesses, and public organizations will have a reliable and continuous supply of thermal energy.

- The thermal energy production will double.

- 48 new jobs will be created locally.

- By connecting households and businesses newly to centralized heating, the number of steam boilers will decrease, reducing air pollution.

The first 18-megawatt thermal power plant in Berkh village was first put into operation in 1984.
