Home News MINE WORKERS IN UMNUGOBI AIMAG BEING INOCULATED MINE WORKERS IN UMNUGOBI AIMAG BEING INOCULATED Last week, Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry G.Yondon worked in Tsogttsetsii soum of Umnugobi aimag together with 4 COVID-19 vaccination team members in connection with the start of COVID-19 vaccine rollout to mine workers. Beginning March 18, truck drivers of export commodities started receiving COVID-19 vaccines and from March 20, mine workers are being vaccinated. The vaccination team accompanied by the Mining Minister delivered 10,200 doses of COVID-19 vaccines for mine workers in Tavantolgoi and Nariin Sukhait coal mines in Umnugobi aimag. Mining Minister Yondon also become acquainted with the state of the coal transportation as the volume of coal and copper concentrate-hauling trucks to move across the border with China had been lowered due to rise in community transmission cases of COVID-19 in Mongolia. With regard to the situation, the Mining Minister held a telephone call with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Mongolia, Mr. Chai Wenrui on March 17 to exchange information. During the phone call, the Chinese Ambassador noted that the cross border transportation can resume to normal depending on the situation. According to the Minister of Mining, there are some 39,454 employees of 298 companies engaged in mining and heavy industry and freight transportation that are considered as of strategical importance and in need of being vaccinated in priority.
