NATIONAL CURRENCY IN CIRCULATION REACHES MNT 1.0 TRILLION

The national currency in circulation reached MNT 1.0 trillion at the end of January 2020, increased by MNT 15.2 billion (1.5%) from the previous month, and increased by MNT 168.9 billion (20.2%) from the same period of the previous year.

At the end of January 2021, the time deposit in domestic currency amounted to MNT 13.6 trillion, increased by MNT 218.1 billion (1.6%) from the previous month, and increased by MNT 2.8 trillion (25.6%) from the same period of the previous year.

In the total time deposit in domestic currency, 89.4% (MNT 12.2 trillion) was individuals deposits and 10.6 percent (MNT 1.4 trillion) was deposits of enterprises.

The time deposits in foreign currency amounted to MNT 4.6 trillion, decreased by MNT 58.2 billion (1.3%) from the previous month, but increased by MNT 1.0 trillion (28.9%) from the same period of the previous year.
