PERFORMING LOANS DROP BY 9.2 PERCENT COMPARED TO PREVIOUS YEAR

At the end of January 2021, the total amount of outstanding loan to enterprises and individuals amounted to MNT 17.2 trillion, increased by MNT 25.0 billion (0.1%) from the previous month, but decreased by MNT 844.7 billion (4.7%) from the same period of the previous year. In the total outstanding loans, MNT 8.7 trillion (50.6%) was individual loans.

 

The performing loans reached MNT 13.9 trillion at the end of January 2021, decreased by MNT 21.8 billion (0.2%) from the previous month, and decreased by MNT 1.4 trillion (9.2%) from the same period of the previous year. The performing loans make up 80.7% of the total loans, and decreased by 4.0 percentage points from the previous year.

 

At the end of January 2021, the principals in arrears amounted to MNT 1.3 trillion, increased by MNT 43.4 billion (3.4%) from the previous month, and increased by MNT 388.6 billion (42.0%) from the same period of the previous year. The principals in arrears make up to 7.6% of the total loans, increased by 2.5 percentage points from the same period of the previous year.

 

At the end of January 2021, the non-performing loans in the banking system amounted to MNT 2.0 trillion, increased by MNT 3.5 billion (0.2%) from the previous month, and increased by MNT 177.7 billion (9.7%) from the same period of the previous year. The non-performing loans in the banking system make up 11.7% of the total loans, increased by 1.5 percentage points from the previous year.

 

At the end of December 2020, the loans from commercial banks to individuals amounted to MNT 8.5 trillion, decreased by MNT 62.2 billion (0.7%) from the previous month and decreased by MNT 734.8 billion (7.9%) from the same period of the previous year. In the total individual loans, 44.9% were the loan for business activities, 32.6% -- salary loans, 8.5% -- herder loans, 5.9% -- deposit backed loans, 2.9% -- car loans, 2.6% -- credit card loans, 0.7% -- household consumption loans, 0.6% -- pension loans and 1.4% -- other loans. In the MNT 7.8 billion performing individual loans, 9.5% were loans with terms up to 1 year, 55.5% -- loans with terms from 1-5 years and 35.0% -- loans with terms of 5 and more years.
