AGRICULTURE MINISTER TALKS ON FOOD EXPORT WITH CHINESE AMBASSADOR

Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Z.Mendsaikhan met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China Chai Wenrui on December 8. Minister Z.Mendsaikhan said the transportation of meat export and greens import at Zamyn-Uud-Erlian border checkpoint has been hampered by COVID-19, underlining the importance of taking joint efforts to solve the issue.

Moreover, the Agriculture Minister proposed resuming export of deep-frozen beef, mutton, and goat meat from the western region in light of the absence of infectious livestock diseases in Mongolia in the last 3 years.

The parties talked about reaching agreement on the quarantine requirements for Mongolia’s exports of honey, milk and dairy products, and animal by-products and beginning relevant risk assessments in the near future.

Ambassador Chai Wenrui informed that the Chinese customs authority is allowing entry of import products only after full disinfection as COVID-19 detected on frozen food packaging and products. The Ambassador undertook to cooperate in speeding up the actions discussed at the meeting and promptly solving some pressing issues.
