SUBCENTERS TO ENCOURAGE SME DEVELOPMENT

 A discussion themed ‘Solutions for the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs)’ took place at Bayankhoshuu business incubator. The general development plan for Ulaanbaatar includes the establishment of six subcenters for steady urban development. Infrastructure development of the subcenters are underway as part of the Ger Areas Development and Investment Support Program. In the first phase of the project, Bayankhoshuu and Selbe suubcenters have been developed in the northern part of the capital and they are providing municipal services, information, library service, and coworking office space service.

At the discussion, Director of the Government implementing agency for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Ya. Erdenesaikhan said, “Loans for SMEs will be provided transparently. Our main responsibility is to increase the incomes of citizens and create jobs. We will closely cooperate with the relevant municipal agency and district SME support centers”

Head of the Municipal Department of Science, Industry and Innovation B.Munkh-Orgil said, “In 2018, the Ulaanbaatar Innovation Center was established to support startups and micro businesses and increase jobs. 43 companies have started their business through the center that offers office spaces, consulting services, internet access, laboratories, and training and meeting rooms. Bayankhoshuu subcenter also nurtured 17 companies. 365 types of government services have been brough closer to the citizens with the establishment of municipal service center at the subcenter. Sele subcenter is opening soon. We will cooperate with SMEs through Ulaanbaatar Innovation Center and the subcenters.”
